Bike-A-Thon for El Hogar
2008 Honduras Mission Trip

The mission of El Hogar Projects is to provide a loving home and education in a Christian environment for abandoned, orphaned and hopelessly poor boys, enabling them to fulfill their ultimate potential as productive human beings in Honduras.
In July 2008, Church of Our Redeemer, Lexington, will send a 15-member work team of youth and adults, to work and serve the boys at El Hogar. The work team experience is like none other. It is an opportunity to be part of a small, focused group of people who share an interest in learning and in serving others. It is an opportunity to see a part of the world that is vastly different from our own. It is an opportunity to get a sense of how the vast majority of humankind lives. It is an opportunity to have your mind, your eyes and your heart opened. It is an opportunity to give back a small bit of the blessings we have been given. It is an opportunity to live with, and to get to know, young boys whose lives are being transformed and to experience an inkling of their sorrows and their joys. It is an opportunity to grow spiritually and to see the hand of God at work in the world and we are very excited about the opportunity to be part of this ministry.
In addition to the service at El Hogar, Church of Our Redeemer is raising funds to support the boys through the year with educational/recreational materials and assistance with housing costs. The Bike-A-Thon on May 10th is one way in which people of Redeemer and the greater Lexington community help contribute to this worthwhile cause. Past Bike-a-Thons have been great successes. Riders of all ages spent a wonderful spring day and raised significant funds for El Hogar. Bike-a-Thon photos
