RENEWING THE GREAT HALL, ENTRY AND KITCHEN
Our 1956-era Great Hall, Entry Hall and lower level bathrooms need functional and aesthetic renovation to transform them into a welcoming space for fellowship, mission, Christian formation and community activities. Renovation will also allow us to accommodate our storage needs and those of our Food Pantry mission partner. In addition, by adding movable partitions, we will greatly increase the flexibility of our meeting and fellowship space. By integrating new media and information technologies, we can provide access to books and information in diverse formats in a space fostering the free exchange of ideas and information. Upgrades to the kitchen will enhance its congregational use and attract outside groups to the space for community usage and rentals.
IMPROVING ACCESS FOR ALL
We are responding to our desire to improve access to the entire church building for those with physical limitations, by creating dignified access to the Sanctuary, Great Hall, lower level bathrooms and Meeting Room. We will replace the current elevator with a properly sized, modern elevator, refit the lower level bathrooms to be handicapped-accessible and make them and Meeting Room fully accessible from the Great Hall.
SUPPORTING THE DIOCESE’S “TOGETHER NOW” CAMPAIGN
In 2012, the Vestry pledged to contribute 10% of the proceeds of our next capital campaign to support our Diocese’s “Together Now” campaign, which funds outreach activities, “Green Grants” and mission collaborations by parishes, and the Barbara C. Harris Camp. Redeemer has already benefited from several grants from the Together Now campaign.
