Stewardship

“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.”

The Stewardship Committee seeks to offer Church of Our Redeemer members the opportunity to live out their faith through contribution of their time, talent and treasure to do God’s work in the Greater Lexington community.  Monetary gifts from parishioners are the predominant source of the church’s income, funding the church buildings, salaries of the rector and staff and everything else required to spread God’s Word in Lexington; it also provides our children with a Christian upbringing and conducts vital mission work in Lexington and the greater community.  Tithing, giving back 10% of one’s income to God, is the model that many parishioners strive for in their monetary gifts to the church.  This can be a difficult stretch for many individuals and families in today’s economy, so there are many families giving at the 3-5% level.  The actual percentage is less important than the commitment to give a proportional gift as a demonstration of one’s faith in God and the affirmation that all we are and all we have comes from God.  The annual pledge drive offers each member and family a way to make that commitment by filling out and submitting a pledge card with their intended donation for the coming year.  The pledge drive results dictate to a large degree what the church budget will support in the coming year. We hope you will carefully consider your own pledge, whether you are new to Redeemer or a life-long member!  Pledge cards are available online or you may contact Bill Vogele or Connie Parrish (vogelewi@gmail.com) or any vestry member.
