The Choirs and Band

(Please contact Cheryl Duerr, Music Director for further program information and program calendars. Cheryl@Our-Redeemer.net  781-862-6408)

The Adult Choir rehearses Tuesdays from 7:30 to 9pm. We welcome all adults and youths who enjoy singing. There has been a lot of buzz in the choral community lately about singers who learn by hearing versus those who learn by reading – corresponding to the theory of multiple intelligences and how we learn things. Whichever way you learn music is accepted and welcomed. Youth are welcome and will find good music and a community of support. The adult choir sings on the 2nd and 4th Sundays and sings repertoire from the choral and liturgical tradition of the Episcopal Church, as well as other styles. They also prepare the Advent Procession, Evensong, and other major works.

The Children’s Choir rehearses Tuesdays 3:30-5pm. The Children’s Choir gathers after school for snack and then rehearses until 5pm. Any children grades 3 and up with unchanged or treble voices are welcome. The choir sings a variety of music from the American, Anglican and folk traditions, and contributes not only to children’s musical knowledge and singing ability, but is also a great boost to children’s confidence and self-esteem. The program is based on the principles of The Royal School of Church Music. The Children’s Choir sings in church on the 1st Sunday of every month.

The Band and Band Vocalists rehearses every other Saturday at 4, and welcomes instrumentalists of all ages and singers interested in close harmony. The band plays in church on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month. About once a month we share dinner after rehearsal. Brass players in the band would love to get a brass group going, and they need YOU!

The Pick-up Choir is an intergenerational choir who come together once a month to rehearse and sing/play the following Sunday. Anyone who enjoys singing or playing an instrument and wishes to have fun making music is Welcome to join us. Bring your instruments and have some fun. The Pick-Up Choir sings on the 3rd Sunday of the month. They rehearse briefly after church the 2nd Sunday of the month, as well as before church on the 3rd Sunday.

High School Musicians. We are presently looking for a time for High School Musicians to rehearse. Please contact the Music Director for further details. Music to be learned on own time.
