Spiritual Growth

At the Church of Our Redeemer we have worked hard to establish a clearly articulated and developmentally appropriate Christian Education program for people of all ages. We provide nursery care during the 9:30 am service for children less than 3 years of age. As a complement and precedent to Sunday School classes, the 9:30 am Sunday service offers children a participatory, child- and family-friendly style of worship within the traditional Rite II format.

Adult Christian Education
Spring 2008: Commit: is an opportunity to participate in a warm, supportive community exploring the big questions about who God is and what it might mean for you personally to live more deeply into who you are in Christ. [Commit page]
Sunday evenings from April 6th – May 11th 2008,  from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Children and Youth

In the late 1990s we introduced the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS).This Montessori based curriculum involves young children in a hands-on interaction with materials that illustrate scriptural lessons, explain liturgical practice and model reverent behaviors. We have steadily added well-trained and highly dedicated teachers to the original core lay and clergy staff. The CGS Level I (ages 3 to 5 years) and Level II (ages 6 to 9 years) are popular and well attended. Redeemer now serves as a training site and model for CGS within the Diocese.

Fourth and fifth grade children attend traditional Sunday School classes that emphasize familiarity with the Bible, personal faith and connectedness to the community. Middle school youth explore such topics as church history, responses to social needs through service and developing fellowship. High school students meet with leaders in the evening, often cooking their dinner together, and occasionally participating in larger service activities. Special programs are offered for young people preparing for Confirmation. Programs revolve around the themes of faith, community and service. The curriculum also emphasizes the need for and value of continued study and spiritual development throughout life.
