Sharing Summer’s Bounty

Doesn’t our GivIMG_20140729_110417567.jpging Garden look gorgeous? Summer produce is busting out all over! I was having a conversation with our Food Pantry director yesterday, and learned that the Lexington Food Pantry receives organic locally grown produce from the Lexington Interfaith Garden, our own Giving¬†Garden, and Lexington Community Farms. In addition, the Lexington Farmer’s Market accepts SNAP (formerly known as food stamps) and also doubles the value of SNAP. For example, for $15 of Food Stamps, you can buy $30 of produce at the Farmer’s Market. And now, Lexington Community Farm will also be accepting SNAP at their farm stand on Lowell Street. I know many of our Food Pantry clients shop regularly at the Farmer’s Market, and now they can shop at LexFarm as well. I’m pretty impressed with our Lexington community for all the ways in which we help those in need access good food!
