Thank you for the wonderful prayers and send-off on Sunday! My plan is to write you some virtual post-cards from my journeys, both physical and spiritual, on this blog.
I actually haven’t left yet, but have one more vestry meeting on Tuesday and a few more things to finish up before I go. Saturday we leave for a family road-trip, following our family story (or at least as much of it as happened on the East Coast) by taking the kids to visit places we’ve lived between Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. I’m hoping we’ll get a chance to worship at St. Saviour’s in Old Greenwich, CT, where I grew up and where Dave and I were married, and at Heavenly Rest in New York City, where I was a seminarian and where Peter was baptized, but we’ll have to see how it all fits into the travel plan.
After the family vacation, the next part of my sabbatical will be a 4-day backpacking trip with a seminary classmate. Then, I’ll be doing some studying while home in the rectory (more on that my next post). Lastly, I’ll be taking a course called “The Palestine of Jesus” at St. George’s College In Jerusalem.
The focus of my sabbatical is to nurture my own relationship with Jesus so I can share that with others, and I hope all these activities will help me do that. I’ll be sharing spiritual reflections and reports of my reading and study on this blog as well as travel updates.
