Celebrate Black History Month at “Lex Unwind”
On Friday, Feb 16th, starting at 6 pm in the Great Hall, our band, “Highway 49” will transport you back in time to February 1962, playing and singing a wide selection of your favorite folk songs by Peter, Paul and Mary, the Highwaymen, Hank Williams, Joni Mitchell, the Youngbloods and many more; artists who helped focus attention on racial issues of the early 60’s. At 7 PM, see the movie, “Hidden Figures,” the courageous true account of three black female mathematicians who played a key role in launching astronaut John Glenn into outer space, making him the first American to orbit Earth.  The evening features free pizza, soft drinks and snacks. Bring your friends.  Donations are appreciated.
