Grow Clinic Support

The holiday season at Redeemer would not be complete without the opportunity to share our holiday spirit and goodwill with the children, families, and staff of the Grow Clinic at Boston Medical Center. For many, the opportunity to participate in the Grow Clinic’s holiday party, whether by baking treats, serving food, taking pictures with Santa, doing crafts, playing music, knitting hats, or giving books, is a treasured Redeemer tradition. As with so much, this tradition will look different in 2020. We are excited to share, though, that we still have the chance to support this incredible community.

This year the Grow Clinic staff has worked tirelessly to, among many other things, plan a fun and festive holiday celebration for the children and families. They will be hosting a virtual celebration that will include an opportunity to do a craft together followed by a lively dance party. In addition to sending families who will be attending the virtual celebration all the materials they will need to make a beautiful “stained glass” jar, they will be sending all families a book and a $50 Target gift card.

This year the Clinic’s caseload has increased by approximately 50% over previous years, so our support is as important as ever.

How can you help?

Although we can’t be with them in person, there are a few ways you can support the Grow Clinic this holiday season.

Drop off those hats, mittens, and blankets!

This year’s pandemic cannot slow down Redeemer’s knitters, and perhaps it has even fostered the development of new knitters! Or, maybe you shopped the sales last winter in anticipation of this year’s collection of hats and gloves. We welcome all gifts of new hats, gloves, and mittens!

Susan Burkhardt and Dabbie Harter are graciously offering a number of opportunities for you to drop off any donations.

  1. At the church on Friday, December 11 between 10 a.m.  and 12 noon.
  2. At one of their homes (there will be a collection box/bag available outside their homes) on Monday 12/14, Tuesday 12/15, or Wednesday 12/16 between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  1. If you would like to arrange another time, you may contact them by phone.

Support the purchase of books and gift cards for the Clinic families!

The Grow Clinic has ordered 200 copies of the book One Love from Frugal Bookstore, a local, black owned business in Roxbury.

You can support the purchase of these books with a $10 donation/book.

The Grow Clinic will be purchasing $50 gift cards for each family.

You can support the purchase of these gift cards with a $50 donation/card.

With the desire to get these gifts to the Grow Clinic as quickly as possible, we are asking all interested to donate directly to the Grow Clinic by following the steps below.

  1. Follow this link to the Boston Medical Center donation page.
  1. Select your gift amount.
  1. Under “Gift Designation” select: “Direct my gift to:” and choose Grow Clinic from the dropdown menu). This step is very important to ensure the gift goes to the Grow Clinic.
